It’s a Pancake Tom…it’s a Pancake Snare…you decide.

The CP Pancake Snares play like butter!  They have a shorter sustain and are bold with a full, round, vibrant sound. They are very responsive in their sound and play….they feel soft but lively and crisp at the same time. The depth of sound you’ll get from these drums will surprise you.  You’ll feel like you’re playing a full-sized drum.

CP Pancake Snare standard features:

  • Natural 8-ply, maple shells, with a hand-rubbed polyurethane finish.
  • No vent holes so the drum has virtually no overtones.
  • Dual, 45-degree bearing edges.
  • One fully adjustable CP snare mechanism with 12-strand open-end snare wires.
  • An easy-tune lug-less design to give you single-tension tuning from the top with a drum key, like a standard snare drum. The lug-less design creates a free-floating drum shell with no tension/dampening from the lugs, giving it more freedom to vibrate.
  • Chrome hoops, 2.3mm, triple flanged.
  • 6” and 8” drums have matching single ply heads, top and bottom.
  • 10” and larger drums have a single ply head on the top with a thinner snare-side head on the bottom.

Our standard Pancake Snare:

  • The more tension the wires put on the head, the dryer, more dampened the snare sound will be.
  • Engaging the snare wires on the top head allows you to have the largest portion of the wires touching the head.  This will give you a dampening effect which can range depending on the tightness of the head and the wires.
  • Engaging the snare wires on the bottom head, allows you to have just the ends of the wires touching the head.  This will give you a more typical snare sound, which will be more wide-open due to the thinner bottom head (on 10” and up).
  • Take the drum apart and flip just the shell (not the heads) and you will get even more sound options by having just the ends of the wires now on the top head and the largest portion of the wires on the bottom head.
  • With the snare wires in the neutral position, not touching either head, you’ll get an entirely different sound. Tune it high for a timbale sound, tune it lower for a tom sound.
  • The compact size of the 2” shell allows you to fit these drums in just about anywhere in your set up and they are easy to pack for traveling.
  • With the shallow depth, there is less area to fill between the drumheads.  This feature, combined with no vent holes, means the air can’t escape or linger. When hit, these drums create a sound wave that fills the area between the drumheads and quickly cancels itself out, giving them a shorter sustain.

Make it even better by adding the Chain-Drop Mechanism or a second Snare Mechanism.

Benefits of the Chain-Drop Mechanism:

  • Available on all our Pancake Snare sizes.
  • The fully-adjustable chain-drop adds an after-effect to the bottom head, meaning, you hear the initial strike of the drum and then you hear the chains bouncing. This feature widens the spectrum of the drum.
  • Use the chains with or without the snare wires on for two completely different sounds. The separate dial allows you to adjust how much of the chains are touching the bottom head.
  • Tune the drum high and the chains will “buzz” more.
  • Tune the drum medium to low and the chains will bounce more with the bottom head to give a lower rumble sound.

Benefits of the second Snare Mechanism:

  • Available on 10” and larger Pancake Snares.
  • Change the sound of drum entirely without having to change the tuning by simply adjusting the snare wires.
  • Engage two snare wires at once.  Have them both on the top, both on the bottom, one on each, or none at all.
  • Each snare mechanism is independent of the other so you can have one tight and the other loose, or any combination of the two.
  • The second snare mechanism wires are fanned out for a little more “snare-ness”.
