Add some SHIMMER to your grooves!
You will need at least 6” of exposed hi-hat rod to use the Shimmer Shaker properly.
Not enough space? Try our Hi-Hat Rod Extender!
The Shimmer Shaker is a Hi-Hat FX instrument and MUST be used with our Rebound Clutch to get the desired rhythmic effect. The option to purchase it without a Rebound Clutch is there for those already owning a Rebound Clutch.
The Shimmer Shaker is one of our many Hi-Hat Rhythm Makers. It was designed to be played on your hi-hat rod, with the included Rebound Clutch, as a free-floating, lower-pitched metallic shaker. The Rebound Clutch allows you to combine these two products to give you the most movement possible.
Like all the products in our Hi-Hat FX line, the Shimmer Shaker will give you another layer of sound. Using both the base and smaller stax layers together, you will get a combination of lower and higher pitches giving you a wider sound that has a metallic shimmer and a variety of frequencies.
By adjusting the space between the springs on the Rebound Clutch and controlling your foot movement, you will be able to achieve triplets, 16th notes and even 32nd notes, giving you more rhythmic opportunities. It may take some practice to get the timing you want, but keep at it, it will be worth the effort!
Ways to change it up:
- Use just the base layer by itself for a lower pitch.
- Use just the smaller stax layers together for a higher pitch.
- Put the smaller stax layers beneath the base layer.
- Swap the small stax with many of our other modular products like, a Hex Jingle, Mini Jingle Strap, Casino Dice, or any of our Cluster Stax layers to expand your sound options.
The Shimmer Shaker is NOT designed as a striking instrument. It’s designed to be an add-on effect for your hi-hat. The material used to make the Shimmer Shaker will dent or bend if it’s hit with force. It is designed to work with our Rebound Clutch, because, you know, everything works better with a Rebound Clutch!
